Job summary

We are looking for graphic designers who have different levels of experience, to staff positions within CSE’s Directorate for Foreign Cyber Operations (DGFCO). DGFCO is responsible for conceiving, planning, coordinating and delivering cyber operations for the Government of Canada.

We are looking for Graphic Designers who enjoy delivering solutions for their clients by guiding projects from concept through to implementation. As a Graphic Designer within DGFCO, you will:

  • Develop a variety of graphic products for visual communications (print media or digital/multimedia), using software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Blender;
  • Find innovative ways to create media to meet project goals;
  • Deliver media solutions that support your colleagues’ training, presentations and corporate initiatives;
  • Provide recommendations to your supervisor regarding tools, techniques, equipment, and processes to help improve the overall success of the team.

At the UNI-06 level, you will also:

  • Create media according to project guidelines and recommended course of action using the appropriate software, applying design principles and techniques;
  • Assist in client consultations to learn about their target audience’s demographics, and support the development of engaging content under the guidance of an experienced team member;
  • Participate in cross-departmental working groups to collaborate with CSE media clients.

At the UNI-07 level, you will also:

  • Develop project guidelines and creative approach based on the client’s requirements;
  • Create media using advanced techniques including integration of multiple software and innovative solutions;
  • Lead client consultations to gain a deeper understanding of their target audience’s culture, values, and interests, providing expert advice on designing and developing engaging content that effectively shifts perspectives, challenges conventional thinking, and raises awareness about pressing issues;
  • Lead cross-departmental projects and/or multimedia working groups.

Essential qualifications

In order to be considered, your cover letter must clearly explain how you meet the following education and experience requirements.

Education

You must have either one of the following:

  • A university degree in a field related to the position, such as (but not limited to) a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design; or
  • A college diploma in a field related to the position with relevant experience; or
  • An acceptable combination of education in a field related to the position (as above), and relevant experience.

Note: The educational program must be recognized in Canada, and you must be able to provide proof of education credentials. Students graduating within the next twelve months are eligible to apply.

Experience

UNI-06:

  • Experience* in planning, organizing, and controlling the various stages of multimedia projects.

UNI-07:

  • Significant experience** in leading, organizing, and controlling the various stages of media projects.
  • Significant experience** in working and advising clients to develop a variety of graphic design products to meet their project objectives;
  • Significant experience** in leading graphic production, advising participants on their roles and responsibilities;
  • Significant experience** negotiating production parameters with the selected stakeholders.

Note: For the purposes of this hiring process, “experience” is defined as: the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various and complex related activities over a minimum period of one (1) year.

“Significant experience” is defined as: the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various and complex related activities over a minimum period of three (3) years.
